TOMRA SORTING TO HIGHLIGHT COMMERCIAL AND OPERATIONAL BENEFITS OF SENSOR-BASED SORTING AT REW ISTANBUL 2016

TOMRA Sorting (TOMRA) will once again be exhibiting at REW Istanbul (28 – 30 April 2016, Tuyap Istanbul). Experts from TOMRA will share a stand (Hall 14, Stand C20-C26) with the company’s agent in Turkey, KOAŞ Consulting and Machine Industry Company.

TOMRA will share the latest developments in sensor-based sorting technology, with a particular focus on plastics recycling and the recovery of valuable materials from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW).

The company will highlight its recently launched second generation flake sorter, the AUTOSORT FLAKE, the first unit to simultaneously combine colour detection, enhanced material information and metal detection to maximise the recovery of high-quality recycled products to meet the requirements set by today’s discerning customers. The AUTOSORT FLAKE is aimed at the plastics recycling industry and has been designed to deliver a complete bottles-to-flake solution for upgrading plastics.

Experts from TOMRA will also be able to answer questions about the company’s pioneering AUTOSORT technology, which uses a range of detection techniques to help plants recover 85 per cent of material at purity rates of over 90 per cent, significantly boosting the quality and value of the recycled fractions. The AUTOSORT is ideally suited to the recovery of materials from MSW plants at recovery and purity rates which would simply be unachievable using manual labour or traditional sorting techniques.

Tasos Bereketidis, Regional Director Middle East & Africa at TOMRA Sorting, comments: “We are very proud of the strong reputation we’ve established in Turkey over the past six years. We now have over 60 TOMRA sorting units installed in the Turkish market and have recently secured a number of new contracts, including a new state-of-the-art multi-million euro MSW sorting plant in Bilecik, Turkey. As Turkey’s only international exhibition focusing on environmental technologies, REW Istanbul presents an ideal opportunity for us to share the very latest innovations in sensor-based sorting technology and highlight the benefits of optical sorting for the recovery of valuable materials from plastics recycling and MSW.”

Turkey and the Middle East region remain key target areas for TOMRA, which has installed more than 4,800 sensor-based sorting systems in waste and metal recycling applications in 40 countries worldwide.
