Continuing to grow its presence in China, TOMRA Sorting Recycling will demonstrate its advanced AUTOSORT 4 system at IE expo 2015 in Shanghai, promoting its role in environmental protection and sustainable development.
Solutions for MSW, plastics and metals
TOMRA Sorting Recycling is participating in IE expo again, considered the pre-eminent showcase for environmental sustainability and energy efficiency in China and Asia. IE expo 2015 takes place from May 6-8 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC), where TOMRA Sorting Recycling will focus on its market-leading solutions for the automated sorting of municipal solid waste (MSW). Sensor-based systems for the sorting of metals and plastics will also be highlighted at the show.
At IE expo 2015, TOMRA Sorting Recycling is demonstrating its AUTOSORT 4, a versatile advanced system that utilizes near infrared (NIR) scanning technology. Moreover, implementing FLYING BEAM® technology, it is the first NIR system not to require an external light source, resulting in an energy savings of up to 70%, for a reduced carbon footprint and associated cost savings. The AUTOSORT 4 is extremely energy-efficient and exceptionally maintenance-friendly.
Crucial role in MSW treatment plant in Xiamen
Waste sorting equipment from TOMRA Sorting Recycling (TOMRA) is now playing a crucial role in the operation of the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) treatment plant in the city of Xiamen, Fujian Province. The plant is using both the AUTOSORT 4 and the X-TRACT systems for the automated sorting of PE film and mixed hard plastic, obtaining, in the process, refuse-derived fuel (RDF). The RDF has a high calorific value but is low in chlorine content and can replace fossil fuel in power plants and cement kilns.
"We are consistently investing in R&D, consistently innovating, and increasing the efficiency with which valuable resources can be recovered. We are very excited to have this opportunity to show our latest-generation sorting technology at IE Expo 2015," said Jacob Rognhaug, TOMRA Country Manager, China. "Our TOMRA sorting systems have a vital role to play in conserving resources, enabling recycling and promoting environmental sustainability in China."
Successful sales and support operation in China
TOMRA's sorting technology has a growing international presence, and that includes entry to the China market, where leading-edge sorting solutions, such as those available from TOMRA Sorting Recycling, are in urgent demand for environmental protection projects where traditional manual sorting is too inefficient for the country's modern needs. "We are building a very successful sales and support operation in China," added Rognhaug. "They include, for example, a Test Center in Xiamen, where we can work directly with our customers and define the solutions that are right for them. We have now sold more than 70 of our sorting systems in China, handling the installation process in each case."
